Halloween at Aldi

This year the Cakes Kids And Me household have decided to have a Halloween party! So when I saw my favourite store had a Halloween range coming into store, I was there ready to make the most of the bargains to be had!!

In store from today, 2nd October, while stocks last!

As usual, there was a great range to chose from.

They had a great range of fancy dress for adults and children. Kids costumes age 3-8 are only £3.99!!! An unbelievable bargain! I picked up a vampire costume for Mstr J, and a cute spider ballgown costume for my niece.  A cute dress with matching headband, try to match it for only £3.99! Good luck!
The little lady can't wait to wear it to our party!
And in case you're wondering, the quality is fantastic!!  But in all honestly, for £3.99, do you really care if it doesn't last more than the night!

I picked up a selection of felt face masks. Only 79p!!! I don't know how Aldi does it!!  Mstr J has already claimed a vampire one to go with his costume! This is a couple of them......

The adults costumes are a snip at £7.99!  I got hubby a vampire costume, and I'm going to be his wicked witch! Again, try to beat the £7.99 price anywhere else! I for one don't care if they end up in the bin covered in cider, toffee apples & all things Halloween by the end of the night!

Last but not least, I picked up some LED berry lights. They will give the lounge a creepy Halloween feel. Ready for all the after dark Halloween fun! These were only £4.99. I will happily put these away for next year, ready to party again!

These were just a few of what I bought, they had so much to chose from, tights (£1.29), witchs hats & devil horns (1.99). As well as some fun items like DVDs (£2.99), and play doh (£4.99), to keep the kids busy.
There was also more decoration items, like wooden signs (£1.49), table decorations (£3.99) etc.

I can't wait for Halloween now, to get the house ready, get our costumes on, & have lots of fun with our friends!!

Hope you have a fun Halloween too, and to do so on a budget, visit Aldi!

Kenwoods disaster chef campaign

Well you all know my love for baking! Well today I heard the below and thought you, my lovely readers would be interested.......

New research has found that £3billion (£254million /per month) worth of home cooked food is being wasted every year as 75% of Brits admit to ditching in edible dinners. A third of Brits (35%) say even their own family can barely 'tolerate' their cooking, and one in ten (10%) hopeless cooks confess to passing a takeaway or ready meal off as their own!

The research, released 1st September to celebrate the launch of KENWOOD'S DISASTER CHEF CAMPAIGN, also found that, rather than motivate their audience, cookery shows such as Great British Bake Off made one in ten (10%) people feel inferior and intimidated and 63% of Brits uninspired!

Fronted by self-proclaimed kitchen rookie and actress, Hermione Norris, KENWOOD'S DISASTER CHEF CAMPAIGN is taking on the challenge of transforming the nations cooking skills, starting with identifying the nations 15 worst cooks.

KENWOOD'S disaster chef opened on 1st September.

Prizes include -
A symphony kitchen makeover
A cookery course
A selection of stylish kitchen appliances from kenwood

Whether it's you, a friend or a family member whose recipes are more of a tragedy than a triumph enter the competition by clicking the link below...

Closing date is Sunday 5th October.

If I wasn't such a great cook, (ahem), I would enter myself!!!

Aldi waterproofs

This week from Friday 11th Aldi have a range of waterproof clothing! This is part of their "great outdoors" special buys! As per usual, it is while stocks last, so get in quick!

As a family we love camping, but I am always complaining about the cold, and wet! I do love the outdoors, but I'm not so keen on what the adverse weather of the great outdoors can bring!!
I decided to buy myself some waterproofs. Trousers and a jacket.

I do love Aldi as their sizing is always what I need! Most shops stock 10-12 and 14-16. These always come up either too small, or too big.  But Aldi have it right for me, and what I struggle to find elsewhere, the elusive 12-14!!! Fab!!

Trousers
Jacket

The trousers

Price -
These cost £9.99, a bargain compared to what you would pay in the high street outdoors chains.

The product design -
The fit/size was perfect, as I expected.
They are not only waterproof, but windproof and breathable.
There is a zippered pocket on either side.
A reflective stripe down either side. This while being effective, actually blends into the trousers as it is grey rather than the usual glare of a bright white reflective strip!
Both waist & ankles are elasticated to keep the warmth in & wind out.

My thoughts-
As I've already said I'm chuffed with the sizing, something that actually fits me!!
I loved the dark black colour, I'd happily slip these on at camping to keep me warm & dry & not feel like I'm standing out!
The material is a little "crackly" when you walk. But you will get this with any waterproofs.

The jacket -

Price -
This cost £12.99. Again a bargain in comparison.

The product design -
There was a choice of 2 colours, I went for the pink.
As with the trousers, not only is it waterproof, but windproof and breathable.
There is a zippered pocket on either side, great to keep your hands warm.
Again, this also has the grey reflectives. This is so much nicer than the normal stand out bright ones.
The hood is adjustable.
And the bottom of the jacket can be adjusted to pull in tight around your waist, to keep the nasty mr wind out!

My thoughts -
The fit was a bit roomy when I tried it on with just a t shirt underneath. But once I'd have a jumper on, it would fit well.
I'm pleased with the pockets as I do like to put my hand in them to keep warmer.
The adjustable hood is great. I find a lot of jackets have hoods, but the slightest wind, it blows down. But I can adjust this to fit tight & keep my head/hair, wind free & dry!
And the adjustable waist is great too, to keep that wind out!

I'm really pleased with my purchases. I now have some great fitting, really useful clothing for camping. I will probably even use them here on wet/windy days as Mstr J wants to start football, and I've heard the stories of standing out on wet winding fields of a weekend!!!  Roll on the winter! Lol
Aldi haven't failed me yet again! Well done Aldi!!
